Abstract
BEACON (www.beacon.berkeley.edu) is a new instrument designed to map urban concentrations of greenhouse gases a (CO2) nd criteria pollutants (CO, NO2, O3) with high spatial resolution (2km) and time resolution of minutes. The initial pilot consists of separate nodes functioning as a single instrument and spanning Oakland, CA and the surrounding cities to the north and south and extending across the Bay to San Francisco. Performance of the instrument and initial results will be described.
