Abstract Number: 643 Working Group: Instrumentation and Methods
Abstract Several methods exist to continuously monitor particulate mass concentration or particulate elemental composition. Until recently, simultaneous measurement of these two important parameters needed to be carried out with two independent instruments. The need for a simultaneous measurement of these properties is driven by needs to adjust processes quickly and to identify emission sources. We will show data taken in the field using a new instrument that simultaneously measures PM2.5 mass concentration and elemental composition. The instrument relies on the beta ray attenuation and x-ray fluorescence techniques.
